Sexual Minority Stressors, Affect and Behavior Study

This study aims to understand the effects of exposure to stressful experiences on bodily responses, emotions, behavior, and well-being. The study involved two parts:

  • An in-person visit where participants are asked to complete a clinical interview, provide three saliva samples, and respond to a series of questionnaires.

  • A 30-day daily diary assessment period, in which participants are asked to respond to a daily questionnaire about their experiences on their personal smartphone or electronic device.

LGBTQ+ Identity and Health Study

In collaboration with Dr. Mollie Ruben at the University of Maine

This study aims to examine how identity relates to well-being and health in adults who identify as LGBTQ+. Participation in this study involved:

  • Discussing aspects of one’s identity while being video recorded via Zoom, and completing several questionnaires about your identity, health, and behaviors including substance use. 

  • Additional questionnaires that were delivered via email 3 months after the Zoom session.

Empowerment Self-Defense for Trans Women Project

We are recruiting participants for a research study to better understand the experiences with and concerns about violence impacting trans women and trans femmes. Trans women and trans femme individuals and healthcare/social service providers with experience serving trans women and trans femmes are eligible to participate. The information we gather from interviews will be used develop and refine an Empowerment Self-Defense violence prevention training program tailored specifically for trans women. Participation in this study will include:

  • Participating in a one-on-one Zoom interview

  • Completing a brief survey
